I received my LONDINIUM I by the end of May 2013, so it’s been in my possession 2 months now. Right at first power-up I had some concerns and sent an e-mail to Reiss. Within MINUTES all my concerns were put to rest and issues sorted out. During this period I contacted Reiss 3 more times and he always replied within minutes, except one time when Reiss decided to ship me what I WANTED, so I received a shipping notification instead. Can anyone describe such customer service other than exceptional?
Now, about the machine itself: simply put, it exceeded my expectations. I’ve used E-61 PID’d double boiler for the last 3 years and can tell that Londinium I gives me much more consistency with a lot less effort. My wife commented that with the previous machine we often had excellent shots, but with this one we have them every single time.
There are threads on coffee forums about Londinium I temperature stability. Looks like some people are obsessed with a so-called “scientific” approach. I haven’t measured temps of my machine because I see no reason for it (this comes from an engineer who made his living in standard measurement labs).
I don’t need to measure my espresso – I just enjoy it.
