I have had my L1 for about a month and I am very happy. I notice the “thermal stability” debate continues to rage.
I was curious so I fixed a thermometer to the group in the recommended position. My idle temp was 86 C. or thereabouts. I was using about an eight second pre-infusion. After reading your blog I adopted the three second pre-infusion and the 60 ml flush. The idle temp is still around 86C. I have not noticed any stall since I started to monitor the temps.
The espresso has been very fine.
Dial in the grinder, pull the handle…
