three things, primarily
1. migrating from 2006 Macpro to new MacMini, fully optioned, which regrettably extended to migrating from Aperture to Capture One photo editing software. should have been simple and seamless, but it has soaked up days. its done now, but it has been infuriatingly time consuming. thanks for pulling Aperture from the App Store, Apple.
2. test run/sneak preview of our new website tonight. lots of work still to be done, but the user interface is much nice i think and the site runs a lot faster. it also eliminates a number of irritating little bugs in the current version that we gave up on trying to resolve some time ago, and instead resolved that we would move to this lastest version at the earliest practical opportunity, which is now. other helpful things which you wont really see as a customer is the DHL shipping rates drawn from DHL in real time via an API – to date we have gotten by with a flat file with over half a million price points on it – crazy stuff. the API will ensure we can provide the most accurate freight price on every order
3. just pulling as many espressos as we can stomach on the L1 with the enhancement kit fitted. i apologise for not posting a video – i really dislike doing videos, perhaps more than going to the dentist, which is something else i did this week. with the kit on the machine performs quite differently, providing a stronger correlation between boiler pressure and group surface temperature. the upshot is it allows us to run higher group temperatures and pull longer shots, which is undeniably helpful for the light single origin roasts we specialise in. we need a pump that can deliver at a higher flow rate, and in a refined manner. there are also some quirks around the way the signal lights are functioning, and the specification of the secondary pressure switch we are using, but not of these issues are insummountable. all in all it is an exciting development, and with our manufacture back from the Host festival in Milan today we expect to forge some real progress on this next week
4. Will the All Blacks win the Rugby World Cup on Saturday? If they dont i wont begrudge Australia the win – they have come from being in a sorry state only 12 months ago to a world cup final tomorrow. If they can pull it off they thoroughly deserve the win i think.
5. Come 1 Jan 2016 we will shift our focus to the LONDINIUM manual lever espresso machine
so plenty to address here, and i hope to have some meaningful updates in the not to distant future
