this tip is failry commonsense, so i apologise in advance if this does not apply to you, but ive watched enough people struggle to dial in a new doserless grinder to consider it worth mentioning
to get started decide what dose of ground coffee you want to use and stick with that dose, eg 16g
as i suggestion you will find your task easier if you choose a mid range dose like 16g, rather than an extreme value
at this stage completely ignore the timer – use it on the manual setting, which these grinders usually come with, then take the pile of ground coffee and weigh out your dose manually
once you have adjusted your grinder to deliver say 27g of coffee in 27 seconds till just before blonding arrives, then and only then start setting the electronic timer
i think you will find the process a lot more enjoyable if you take this approach, rather than trying to adjust the timer at the same time as you adjust the burrs
