Game changer! Bezzera Strega

Every now and again a product comes along that changes the market dramatically. We’ve been looking for a domestic sized spring lever machine, but with a full commercial group & it hasn’t existed. Until now. Enter the Bezzera Strega, selling at around GBP1330. At this price point it even starts to make a two group Ponte Vecchio look expensive.

If you’ve had reservations about switching to a lever machine we think you’ll find this machine has addressed many of your concerns.

While it will take up quite a bit more space than the pocket sized Cremina, the build quality will be high, complete with a mirror polished stainless steel cowling. Although the electric pump and ‘in group’ electric element means there is more to potentially go wrong, at this price point we think it dramatically changes the landscape.

Spring levers are an absolute doddle to use. There are absolutely no grounds for concern that you may not be able to master it. Consistency between shots is also high.

You can set it up as a reservoir fed machine, or plumb it to your mains water supply; the choice is yours. It also has a hot water port which I’ve come to really appreciate on the Bosco as you can rinse the portafilter on the spot between shots without having to wander over to the sink and back.
