as you know, we’ve been working hard to bring you a system for making espresso that makes the process as simple as possible
we’ve shown you the grinders we like, we’ve built an espresso machine that is easy to consistently obtain exceptional espresso from, doesnt over-heat, and is durable
we’ve added a forum so you can share your knowledge with other LONDINIUM espresso machine owners, and while there is still content to be added there, i’m sure some of you are thinking ok, what’s left?
if you have set your pressure-stat for the ambient temperature in which you are using your LONDINIUM lever espresso machine, you are weighing & timing your shots you will already be enjoying consisitently exceptional espresso
so the final frontier in my view is quite simply the roasted bean, whether single origin or blend, this is where you are going to make your unrealised gains from here on in
because the LONDINIUM system of making espresso is so simple it doesnt take you days, weeks, or months to get the best out of any given roast – you can get on top of any given roast fairly quickly, definitely within 250g if you are using a HG1 where there is essentially zero waste as you optimise the grind & dose
so for my money no where near enough grief is given to the roaster. we appreciate that we are making a rod for our own back, but it is something we are willing to do. we believe that with the setup that you now have in place you are in a strong position to give feedback to your roaster, whether that is us, or someone else
until now the views of home baristas have been given the brush off by roasters to a certain extent as the gear that home baristas have been using up until the last few years has simply not been of the same calibre as commercial espresso equipment. the arrival of LONDINIUM lever espresso machines and other single group high end pump espresso machines mean this assumption is no longer valid
so, limber up and start working your keyboards and tell us, and other roasters what you think of their work, good or bad
we can only speak for ourselves, but we want all the feedback we can persuade our customers to take the time to offer up, and in particular any negative feedback; we want to know first, and we will take action. we will not always agree with all views, but where we get multiple comments all pointing in the same direction on any given roast we will take decisive action
wherever you do not feel that you have received value we will replace the roast, and allow you to choose another roast
we are completely serious about this – we do charge a premium for our work, but the flipside is it must never disappoint you as a customer. if you do not feel that you have received consideration for the sum handed over we will always take steps to rectify this. all our customers are hard won and we can not afford to have you walk off to another roaster as a result of a some part or parts of the customer experience no measuring up
get tough on your coffee roaster; now you’ve the gear, the roast is the final frontier
