Tools for removing the element on a LONDINIUM I

the need to remove an element on a LONDINIUM I hasnt arisen yet as far as i know, but when it does i look a bit daft if im not set up to do it

so i have bought a 38mm socket (be careful to buy a socket that is deep enough to clear the element, but not so long that it doesnt clear the frame)

the next issue i had was i only own a 3/8″square drive socket set, but i could only find a 38mm socket with a 3/4″ square drive

i simply have no need for a 3/4″ drive socket set – its massive – intended for working on really heavy engineering, not light, small things like espresso machines

so as you can see in the image i then found a very nice set of adaptors that you fit to the drive end of the socket. these were sold as a set of three and allow you to step from 3/4″ to 1/2″, 1/2″ to 3/8″, and 3/8″ to 1/4″

obviously a measure of commonsense is required – connecting a 38mm socket to a 1/4″ rachet is almost certainly going to blow the rachet

if you tried hard enough you could probably blow a 3/8″ drive too, so i took the opportunity to extend my 3/8″ socket set with the addition of a cross bar

if at some point the need arrives to remove the element in your LONDINIUM I not that i expect it will as our machines have two systems for low water protection on them, please contact us before you start as there are a few tricks to it
