Some of you struggle to understand why i hold the home barista website in such low regard as a source of reliable information for lever espresso machines
I give you Exhibit A:
Reiss,
Thank you for the clarification.

hi dan
i was reading your review of the Profitec 800 and read the following;
Notice that Dritan doesn’t really bother with preinfusion time. It proves the old adage that when it comes to lever espresso machine usage, there are no rules, only suggestions.
i think you will find the reason for this is the groups on his machine are TS/HX fed (as opposed to dipper fed) and therefore he is pre-infusing at line pressure (typically 3 bar, but possibly higher if he has not regulated the water line), not boiler pressure as you are using on Profitec
as a result the pre-infusion phase completes much more quickly for Dritan, rather than it being true that you can pre-infuse any old way you please
Kind regards
Reiss Gunson

too proud to change what they have written though because that would mean losing face
the notion that there are strict & precise rules for the correct operation of a pump driven espresso machine, yet you can use a lever machine in any fashion you please is laughable i think.
