Push the toggle to the locked open position in any direction and apply some lube to the exposed ball joint
Then move the toggle around and around and back & forth the ensure the lube is worked over the entire surface of the ball joint
Re-assemble
Screw the end caps back on by hand and just tension them the slighted amount – hardly anything – with the 26mm set spanner (this is a long span and it is easy to forget how much torque such a long lever can generate)
Simply use the spanner to tighten the end caps one step more than finger tight
Over tightening these end caps serves no purpose that i can think of and i dont think they need to be especially tight to stop them working off with the movement of the togggle valves
All I can say is ive had mine off a few times, only ever tightening them very lightly with the wrench, and i have not yet had them work loose and needed to re-tighten them
