Finally got to visit Melbourne a couple of weeks ago. The city’s reputation is deserved i think as the world’s leading cafe scene. I know some people will say what about here or there, but the metric i used was; is it harder to get a bad cup of coffee in Melbourne than it is a good cup of coffee? and the answer is yes; it really is harder to find a bad cup of coffee in Melbourne than a good cup, and i think that’s very high praise. There are cafes around every corner and you really do wonder how they all survive, but they are well supported by the locals. Melburnians really do love their coffee. Fabulous interior designs and fitouts and world class service can be assumed as the competition is extremely high
That said, there was no where i went where they were delivering a taste i was unable to deliver in a londinium. We bought an array of roasted coffee beans home from Melbourne and are enjoying the experience of extracting them on a lever machine that gives nothing away to machines that carry a price tag with an extra zero
