LONDINIUM lube, with PTFE

i have held off more than 6 months before commenting on this new lubricant as i was simply unsure how it would perform relative to the industry standard, which is Dow Corning’s very good Molykote 111

all silicone lubricants wear off eventually, Molykote included, leaving you running on bare metal, which quickly wears the seals if you dont relube fairly shortly after the grease has gone

but our new LONDINIUM lube has PTFE in it. this means that when the silicone grease has worn away, as all silicone greases eventually do, the PTFE remains bonded onto the bore of the group

PTFE as you probably know is a dry lubricant, so it continues to allow the contact edge of the seals to run smoothly on the bore without damaging them

these means that you can rest easy about exactly when you relube the seals because they will never be running on bare metal, which brings them to the end of their service life fairly rapidly

the new LONDINIUM lube is also a lot more viscous than the old LONDINIUM lube, which is also an improvement

the demands placed on the lubricant are a lot greater on a lever machine than a pump machine because the seals are in motion for every shot pulled

we are now in a position where we can confidently recommend LONDINIUM lube as the best lubricant we know of for our machines

NB: the grease on the seals and bore when your LONDINIUM lever espresso machine is delivered to you is not LONDINIUM lube. we would like to supply our machines to you with LONDINIUM lube already fitted, but it is not possible. we recommend you replace the grease with londinium lube at some point
