in the video i count off 6 seconds pre-infusion and i refer to 15.8g of coffee
these are just nice, easy numbers and doses to get started with
additionally i don’t think LONDINIUM I works very well with doses much above 19g – we have some development ideas that we will set to work on when time permits, but in its current form it doesn’t really like pulling 22-23g doses – you can run long pre-infusion times but it doesn’t seem ideally suited to it in my view
for me the only number that is something of a constant is an extraction time of 27s
secondly you must run the pre-infusion phase until the first drip of coffee falls
if you release the lever when the first drop of coffee falls and the shot blonds before 27s, then you need to tighten the grind for the dose you are running. vice versa if the shot blonds after 27s of extraction – ease the grind a little & keep the dose the same
the pre-infusion can be varied between at least as wide a range as 3 to 30 seconds
if you have a dark roast you require less pre-infusion/if you have a light roast you require more pre-infusion
if you have a low dose (e.g. 14g) you require less pre-infusion/if you have a high dose you require more pre-infusion
in the video we struggle to get the nice chocolate tones that many of you favour as it was pretty cold that week
in your home the L1 will give you wonderful rich chocolate coloured flecks in your crema all day long
