Thanks, I went to a local espresso machine service company who repairs and installs machines for a lot of the local cafes an restaurants, they had the missing 3/8 to 1/8 reduction (in fact they had about 100 in a bucket) so water is now attached after the pump, it works much better.
You may want to check with Fracino that they remember to include the reduction with the plumbing kit (its mentioned to be included in the updated manual) it was easy for me to get it, but others may not have the convenience of a well stocked espresso service company 10 minutes away.
Anyhow the machine is now making great coffee, I had a fairly decent E61 HX machine before, and I am really surprised how consistently the L I delivers a better tasting cup of coffee on all the 4 different beans/blends I have tried this far.
