we talked about offering a rotary pump in the early stages of the L1 project
the more time we’ve had the L1 in the market the more comments we’ve had about how quiet the pump is (for a pump)
one of the best decisions we made on this project was to opt for the pump and placement that we did
that is to say, there is so much written on line about how much better rotary pumps are than vibratory pumps that i really hesitated before making this decision, but I’m very pleased we went the way we did
in L1 the pump is just loading water into the boiler against 1.3bar of internal pressure in the boiler
in other words, its hardly doing any work at all
so for LONDINIUM I a vibe pump was by far and away the right decision
as a result LONDINIUM I is a lot lighter and a lot smaller – this matters for shipping cost and it matters in most people’s kitchens
bottom line: no pump machine is silent – if you want silence you’re going to have to commit to a plumbed in machine – whoever makes it
bear in mind that when i scribbled on the very first piece of paper L1 was only going to be sold as a plumbed in machine
i had to make a concession to market forces as like it or not, most people perceive plumbing in to be a hassle and opt for a tank machine
to conclude: L1 is not available with a rotary pump – its just bigger, heavier, more expensive and still sounds like a pump!
