Well if that is the case I urge you to acquire a straight blade razor and start learning how to shave ‘properly’
I have shaved with a safety razor for quite a few years now and expected a step up, but didnt think the learning curve would be too steep, unlike coming from say an electric razor
I’m ashamed to say I couldnt have been more wrong! Its a real challenge. I urge you to have a go if you are curious
I didnt open myself up, and to be fair i think the risk of that occuring is slight unless you were reckless, however that’s a world away from executing the job quickly and progressively – more practise required!
But the finish is incredibly smooth – like the icing on a wedding cake – far beyond what you might hope to achieve with a safety razor, which really surprised me
Unless you have an incredibly leisurely life it is probably unrealistic to think you will shave with it on a daily basis
But you are buying into much more than just the shaving – there is also maintaining the blade, which is another whole discipline in itself
You will need a leather and possibly canvas strop and the correct grind stones – obtain professional advice on these too
If you are in California Ben Berger, a LONDINIUM I customer, who runs Blade & Stone is without doubt the guy to see for first class advice and service
Get one! (i think it goes without saying that straight blades need to be stored securely – i.e. they must not be accessible to children)
