a few weeks back i purchased some genuine 100% cocoa hot chocolate
i was pretty disappointed with both the mess and the results that following the instructions on the packet yielded, finding that it is difficult to get the chocolate to fully mix with the milk without it semi-solidifying on the bottom as cooling kicked in
enter the espresso machine!
take a cheese grater and grate 2 pieces of 100% cocoa chocolate on the finest side of the grater
fill your milk jug with the amount of milk you need to make a single cup of hot chocolate
dump the finely grated hot chocolate into the milk & stir it around a bit with a spoon or fork to distribute it a bit
then get in there with the steam wand and do as you normally would to texture your milk, with minimal froth though
stop when your temp tag changes colour & pour immediately into your cup
no need to stir! the hot chocolate will be perfectly distributed throughout the milk thanks to the fine grating and nothing will settle out in the bottom of your cup
no saucepan to wash either – and the creamy aerated milk makes it the perfect hot chocolate IMHO
give it a whirl
