1. the selection and roasting of exceptional single origin coffee that is at its very pinnacle in a lever espresso machine
2. to sell the L1, L2, and L3 espresso machines and have them on the shelf ready for dispatch at all times if possible
3. to have every single part for the L1-2-3 in stock and ready for despatch at all times to anywhere on the globe that DHL will take it
that’s it.
Having interrupted (1) to achieve (2) as we simply could not find a compact commercial lever machine we now turn our focus back to (1)
Step (3) above will take a little while to be fully achieved as we are only ordering parts in as a need for them arises, but when it does i typically order in 20 or 30 units of any given part. I am very confident that in the vast majority of cases we will be able to get any parts you need weeks faster than an Italian produced espresso machine
Small packages of parts just sail through customs with no delays so we can easily get critical parts to NZ & Australian customers in the same week that they order them. Additionally the few parts you might need for our machines are very light & small, typically a seal kit and a little pot of grease, which makes them very economical for sending DHL Express. this goes right to the heart of what LONDINIUM espresso is about. Very focused, very niche, but able to offer a good customer experience in these niche activities
I know for a fact that it can take months for parts for Italian espresso machines to get to NZ and Australian customers as the local distributors are unable to hold every part for the vast array of espresso equipment they sell – it is simply uneconomic to do so for the size of the market. This is a niche activity that is 100% core to LONDINIUM and we have been doing it successfully for years already – it isnt simply aspirational fluff in a corporate mission statement: we actually deliver on it
So somewhat counter-intuitively the little workshop coffee roaster that is LONDINIUM espresso is far better placed to deliver on keeping any downtime on your machine lower than any other espresso machine you may be considering
And that is the miracle of the internet and tiny little workshop businesses like ours partnering with massive global logistics and distribution companies like DHL. I couldnt think of anything id rather be doing. If you think its about the money youre very much mistaken – its about freedom from the soul-less conformity to group norms that is working for a large corporation and its taken a long time to realise
Don’t let the biege people grind you down!
Merry Christmas!
– ps – we’ll be around over the xmas break as i seek to catch up and try and get things into a more orderly state. never again will we have such a year of chaos!
