Come and see the fruits of the best and brightest design minds from the UK, and around the world. Velopresso is an environmentally aware coffee cart. This means that whilst best of breed Mazzer Robur burrs have been used, they have been embedded into a ground breaking design that allows the burrs to be pedal powered: no electric motor is required. Its fast and surprisingly easy to turn the pedals under load. When it is time to move a gear selector allows the grinder to be disengaged and the driveline for the tricycle to be re-engaged so you can pedal home. The lever group has also been used to achieve the finest espresso whilst being environmentally aware. As a ‘day 1’ solution the boiler is currently gas fired whilst the environmentally aware solution of heating the boiler from the energy released by used coffee grounds is refined for production

And if you’ve an interest in cycling, here’s a bonus pic of other work from one of the Velopresso designers;
Those of you who know your stuff will not need to be told this design has been commissioned by the famous old English bicycle saddle company, Brooks
Here’s another guy, Gaspard Tine-Beres, who is making filter coffee machines and other kitchen appliances, by using almost entirely recycled materials, along with cork. Check it out here; http://www.gaspardtineberes.com/index.php?/project/short-circuit/
And if you are a fan of moka pots yet wished you could steam milk with them, now you can thanks to Po-Chih Lai. See the video action here http://pochihlai.com/2012/05/15/moka-milk-frother/
