In particular i would suggest you get take the opportunity to get hold of an extruded base and a stainless spring

The seals hardly ever fail, just keep your Bacchi lubed – olive oil will do – and it will give far better coffee than a vast array of much more expensive machines, and for years & years

If you do something stupid like place it directly onto the coals of a camp fire or apply a blow torch to the side of the Bacchi (its all been done, believe me), then you can expect to succeed in destroying your Bacchi – that isn’t a defect of the product, just misuse

We are ceasing to offer this product because while it offers exceptional espresso we are sick of have to disassemble, degrease, grease with what think is a better grease Molykote/or Londinium Lube, take a flat file and remove the burrs off part number 24 so it doesn’t slice your finger open, check the spouts on part 1 don’t leak or come off in your hand because they haven’t had a sufficient amount of Loxeal applied when assembled, grease the thread on part 9 with Molykote, replace parts 11 and/or 26 if any roughness/dings are found on the bores – it frequently is, look for porosity and broken edges in part 15, look for any part that has been poorly powder coated or anodised and replace. Load with water and test valves actuate at the correct pressure, cool down, wipe off, repack

Oh, and the beautiful metal tins that it comes packed in invariably arrived with a hammer finish because there was insufficient packaging above and below the product to stop it making indentations in the tin during shipping. You can dismiss all of these as minor, but I can assure you that our customers didn’t appreciate receiving what really a fairly high end espresso maker with the presentation tin looking like it had been over the Niagara Falls.

It’s over, we’re done with it. Which is a great shame as the Bacchi is in a different league to any of the other ‘hand held’ espresso makers in terms of the quality of the coffee. It can embarrass ‘proper’ espresso machines costing over GBP1000.
